What Merseyside is like

Merseyside is Liverpool and the towns that grew up around the river: Birkenhead and Wallasey on the Wirral side, Bootle and Crosby running north along the coast to Southport, and Knowsley and St Helens to the east. It is compact, well connected and easy to cross in under an hour.

Single men are still the biggest group of our members here, but Merseyside stands out for its share of single women and couples – a better balance than most counties, which makes it a good place for couples looking for a third and for women looking to meet couples.

Liverpool

The city itself, with members across the centre and the suburbs.

The Wirral

Birkenhead, Wallasey and the quieter peninsula towns, through the tunnels from the city.

Southport and the Sefton coast

Crosby, Formby and Southport along the coast to the north.

St Helens and Knowsley

The eastern side, closer to Warrington and Wigan.

Getting around: Merseyrail’s Northern and Wirral lines link almost everywhere, the Queensway and Kingsway tunnels cross under the Mersey, and the M62, M57 and M58 lead out to Manchester and Lancashire.

Meeting up: Merseyside is small enough that someone on the other side of it is only a train ride away – which also means the chance of bumping into someone you know is higher. A city-centre bar makes an easy first meeting place – nobody notices two couples having a drink.
