What Lincolnshire is like
Lincolnshire is one of England’s biggest counties and one of its flattest – farmland and fens in the south, the Wolds rising in the middle, and a long coast from Skegness up to the Humber. Lincoln, the cathedral city, sits in the middle; Grantham and Stamford lie on the A1 in the south-west; Boston and Spalding in the fens; and Scunthorpe and Grimsby to the north.
Couples make up a big share of our Lincolnshire members – not far behind single men – which is unusual for a rural county – the bulk of them aged between 35 and 54.

Getting around: the A1 runs down the western edge, the A46 and A15 meet at Lincoln, and the A16 links the coast and the fens. Trains from Lincoln and Grantham connect to Newark and the East Coast Main Line.
Meeting up: Lincolnshire roads are long and mostly single-carriageway, so settle on a meeting place early – Lincoln suits most of the county. In small market towns, a first drink in Lincoln or across the border in Newark draws less attention.
