What Minnesota is like

Minnesota is centred on the Twin Cities – Minneapolis and St. Paul, side by side on the Mississippi – whose metro area is home to more than half the state’s people. Beyond them are Rochester in the south-east, St. Cloud to the north-west, Duluth on Lake Superior, and a great deal of lake country.

Minnesota leans towards couples – there are more of them here than single men, and a handful of single women – and nearly everyone is in Minneapolis, St. Paul or the suburbs between.

Minneapolis

The larger of the Twin Cities, and our biggest group in the state.

St. Paul and the east metro

The capital, with suburbs stretching out towards Wisconsin.

Rochester and the south

Rochester and the farm towns of southern Minnesota.

Duluth and the north

Lake Superior and the lake country – long drives between members.

Getting around: I-94 links Minneapolis and St. Paul with St. Cloud and Wisconsin, I-35 runs from the Twin Cities north to Duluth and south towards Iowa, and I-494 and I-694 loop around the metro.

Meeting up: winters are long and hard, so plan for indoor, low-key meets – and a drink in the other twin city is often all the distance discretion needs. Near the eastern edge of the metro, search into Wisconsin too.
