What Wisconsin is like
Most of Wisconsin’s people live in the south-east: Milwaukee on Lake Michigan, Madison, the capital, about an hour and a half to the west, and the towns between them and the Illinois line. Further north are Green Bay and the Fox Valley cities of Appleton and Oshkosh, and beyond them lakes, forest and long winters.
Couples are the largest group of our Wisconsin members, with single men close behind and a smaller number of single women. Milwaukee has the most.
Milwaukee
The biggest group, in the city and the suburbs along the lake.
Madison
The capital and university city, west of Milwaukee on I-94.
Green Bay and the Fox Valley
Green Bay, Appleton and Oshkosh in the north-east.
Northern and western Wisconsin
Eau Claire, La Crosse and the Northwoods – fewer members, more driving.
Getting around: I-94 links Milwaukee and Madison and carries on to Minneapolis, I-43 runs up the lakeshore to Green Bay, and I-41 connects Milwaukee with the Fox Valley.
Meeting up: snow can cancel plans at short notice from November to March, so be flexible about dates. In the south-east, searching across the line into northern Illinois and Chicago widens the choice considerably.
