What Ohio is like
Ohio has no single city that dominates the state. Instead there are the three Cs – Cleveland on Lake Erie, Columbus, the capital, in the middle, and Cincinnati on the Ohio River in the south-west – plus Dayton, Toledo and Akron, with small towns and farmland between them all.
Ohio is one of our largest states. Couples are the biggest group, a little ahead of single men, with a good number of single women – and they are spread fairly evenly, with Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Cincinnati and Toledo all well represented.
Columbus and central Ohio
The capital and its suburbs, home to the largest group of couples.
Cleveland and the north-east
Cleveland, Akron and the Lake Erie shore.
Cincinnati and Dayton
The south-west along I-75, with Kentucky just across the river.
Toledo and the north-west
Toledo, close to the Michigan line and within reach of Detroit.
Getting around: I-71 links Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati, I-75 runs from Toledo through Dayton to Cincinnati, and I-70 and I-80 cross the state from east to west. Nowhere in Ohio is much more than three hours from Columbus.
Meeting up: Columbus sits in the middle of the state, a sensible halfway point between north and south. If you live near Toledo or Cincinnati, look across the state line as well – to Detroit, or into northern Kentucky.
