What Tennessee is like
Tennessee is long and narrow, and splits naturally into three: West Tennessee around Memphis on the Mississippi, Middle Tennessee around Nashville, and East Tennessee from Chattanooga and Knoxville up into the Appalachians. Crossing from Memphis to Knoxville takes the best part of six hours.
Couples are the biggest group of our Tennessee members – comfortably more than single men – and single women are fewer. Nashville has the most, followed by Memphis and Knoxville.
Nashville and Middle Tennessee
The largest group, in the city and the fast-growing towns around it.
Memphis and West Tennessee
On the Mississippi, where Tennessee meets Arkansas and Mississippi.
Knoxville and East Tennessee
Up towards the Smoky Mountains, with the Tri-Cities further north-east.
Chattanooga
On the Georgia line, close enough to Atlanta to widen the search south.
Getting around: I-40 crosses the whole state from Memphis through Nashville to Knoxville, I-24 links Nashville with Chattanooga, and I-75 runs from Chattanooga up to Knoxville.
Meeting up: Nashville is busy with visitors every weekend, which makes it easy to blend in for a first drink. Elsewhere towns are smaller and word travels, so hold back face photos until you trust someone.
