What the two counties are like
Worcestershire and Herefordshire sit side by side on the Welsh borders, divided by the Malvern Hills. Worcestershire is the busier of the two, with Worcester on the Severn, Redditch and Bromsgrove close to Birmingham, Kidderminster to the north and Evesham in the vale; Herefordshire is quieter and more rural, with Hereford, Leominster, Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye.

Worcester and the Malverns
The cathedral city on the Severn and the hill towns to its west.
Redditch, Bromsgrove and Kidderminster
The northern towns, close to Birmingham.
Evesham and the Vale

Hereford and the Marches
Hereford, Leominster, Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye.
Getting around: the M5 runs past Worcester and Bromsgrove up to Birmingham, the M50 links the M5 with Ross-on-Wye, and the A49 runs north to south through Hereford and Leominster.
Meeting up: Worcester sits between the two counties and the West Midlands – a sensible first-drink choice for most. From Redditch or Bromsgrove, look into Birmingham too.
