What Lancashire is like
Lancashire runs from Morecambe Bay in the north to the edge of Greater Manchester in the south. Preston is the city at its centre; Blackpool, Lytham and Fleetwood face the Irish Sea; Blackburn, Burnley and Accrington are the old mill towns of East Lancashire; and Lancaster and the Forest of Bowland lie to the north.

Getting around: the M6 passes Lancaster and Preston on its way north, the M55 heads out to Blackpool, the M65 links Preston with Blackburn and Burnley, and the M61 drops down to Manchester.
Meeting up: Preston is central and on the main rail line, which makes it the easiest choice for a first drink. From East Lancashire or Chorley, Manchester is close enough to search as well.
