What Louisiana is like

Louisiana’s people are concentrated across the south: New Orleans near the mouth of the Mississippi, Baton Rouge, the capital, upriver, and Lafayette at the centre of Cajun country to the west. In the north, Shreveport and Monroe feel closer to Texas and Arkansas than to the bayous.

Couples are the largest group of our Louisiana members, ahead of single men, with a smaller group of single women. New Orleans has the most.

New Orleans

Getting around: I-10 runs across the south from Lake Charles through Lafayette and Baton Rouge to New Orleans, I-12 skirts the North Shore, I-49 heads north from Lafayette to Shreveport, and I-20 crosses the north of the state.

Meeting up: New Orleans is busy with visitors all year, which makes a first drink easy to keep low-key. Baton Rouge sits close enough to both New Orleans and Lafayette to treat all three as one search.
