What Mississippi is like

Mississippi is a largely rural state with its people spread out. Jackson, the capital, sits in the middle; the Gulf Coast runs from Gulfport and Biloxi to Pascagoula; the Delta stretches along the Mississippi River in the north-west; and the northern hills around Tupelo and Oxford look towards Memphis.

Couples and single men are almost level among our Mississippi members, with a smaller group of single women. Jackson has the most, with the Gulf Coast next.

Getting around: I-55 runs north to south through Jackson between New Orleans and Memphis, I-20 crosses Jackson from east to west, I-10 follows the Gulf Coast, and I-22 links Tupelo with Birmingham.

Meeting up: in a rural state, discretion matters more than almost anywhere – people know each other’s cars and business. Meet in Jackson or on the coast rather than in your own town, and share face photos only once you have talked for a while.
